Family Service Night

Our ward has a responsibility over two rows of peach trees at the local church owned orchard. Marc is usually the one to go out with the young men and trim back branches, thin peaches, etc. On Friday, August 16th, the ward held a service activity to pick peaches and we decided to go as a family.

The orchard is beautiful! Row after row of all different types of fruit trees. There's apples, plums, peaches, and pears. The fruit from this orchard goes to help people all over the world.

We were told that peaches that were bigger than a softball were ours to keep if we wanted them. (They won't fit in the processor or something like that). I had a friend there who is also pregnant and has lots of little ones, and we worked on gathering the enormous peaches to take home and can.

Marc and the kids worked on picking the peaches. They took turns on the ladder and worked hard to clear the trees. They loved it! They loved being in the orchard, working with dad, and spent quite a while working. I was proud of them :)

After the picking, we went up to the picnic tables and ate hot dogs and rootbeer floats. There was an irrigation ditch running by with a bridge and dirt hills all piled up. Kid heaven for sure! The kids were absolutely filthy, but happy.

We loved being able to provide service for others, and even got to take home a few boxes ourselves! What a great night!
