Cars

Our van was long overdue to have some major scheduled maintenance done to it. We had debated a long time whether to just bite the bullet and put the money into it and hope that it lasts us for another 8 years, or sell it and buy another used van that didn't have as many miles on it. We made the decision to just sell it and get a newer model.

Well, lo and behold, after we made this decision and spent hours researching new cars I got a got from Marc on his way home from work on a Saturday. His car had stopped working on the freeway. He was close enough to an exit that he was able to coast down into a Walmart Parking lot. We felt extremely blessed and felt he was watched over to make it to a safe spot. Turns out a rod went through the engine block and destroyed it.

So much for a new van! We felt immense gratitude that his car broke down before we bought the new van. We would have depleted the savings with the van and would not have had any money to get him a new car. I listed the car on Craigslist and a couple of hours later, it was sold in the Walmart parking lot that it had "died" in. We didn't have to worry about towing or anything. I did have to remind Marc to go back and take the plates off the car after he signed over the title!  He paid $2700 for the car nearly two years ago and was able to sell it for $1,000 without a working engine. Not too shabby I'd say!
