On December 13, our doorbell rang at like 10:00 at night. We were a little annoyed and wondered who the heck would be coming by that late (and ringing the doorbell!)
To my shock, there was this big, cuddly blanket on the doorstep with a note that said "The 1st day of Christmas". My attitude quickly changed to one of excitement and bewilderment. I've participated in giving 12 days of Christmases to others, but have never been a recipient.
2nd day we got a set of pyrex mixing bowls and a huge costco sized bag of carmel/cheesey popcorn.
3rd day we got a wooden case and inside it was this deluxe paint set. There was also 4 ornaments to decorate.
4th day was a set of 6 fluffy bath towels and hand towels
5th day was a gas gift card to Maverik
6th day was a gift card to Target
7th day was a giant sticker book
8th day was a set of kids science books
9th day was boxes of cookie mix and new kitchen gadgets
10th day was some new games
11th day was a new scooter for the kids
12th day was presents for each of the kids. Lexi got a doll, Bryce got a football, Tyler a soccer ball and Isabel a "See and Say".
Like I said, the family was incredibly generous, and experienced. They came at different times every day. Some times they'd leave something late at night ring the doorbell, wait for us to come get the items and then leave the next day out for us to find in the morning. We started out wanting to find out who it was and then not wanting to. We felt incredibly blessed, and couldn't believe out of the different families in the area, many who were really in need, ours was chosen. It makes us want to do this for someone else when we can be just as generous. It was a fun way to get in the mood for Christmas and the kids loved waiting to see what the "Christmas Elf" was going to bring next
