Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve snuck up on us so fast this year! Marc was able to spend the day with us but most of it was spent packing. We did venture out to Kohl's to make a return and to Walmart to grab a few stocking stuffers. Then we went to an Electronic store to get our DVD player fixed, made yet another drop off at Goodwill, the bank, and then home where we tried to convice our little two year olds that they needed to take a nap. I can't remember if we were successful or not!

We made a really yummy pork roast for dinner with rice and rolls and corn. After dinner we talked with my parents over the webcam and tried to get the kids to perform and sing a few Christmas songs. We baked a few sugar cookies and the kids got to help decorate them which was a lot of fun. They made a plate for Santa and left it out with a cup of milk. We read a Christmas Story, and I tried to retell the story of the nativity with stickers that the kids got to place on the paper. We got dressed in Christmas jammies then strictly warned them that Santa would not come if they wouldn't go to sleep....two year olds don't quite grasp that concept yet. After an uphill battle of getting them to stay in their beds and go to sleep we finally were able to work on other things, like finishing a stocking, preparing breakfast for the morning, moving the boxes away from the Christmas tree so it would feel a little more like Christmas. After wrapping presents and stuffing stockings it was finally time to crash. I love Christmas Eve! I can't wait for next year where we can put a lot more effort into the day and really enjoy holiday festivities, but it was a great day nonetheless :)
