Staycation part 1

I think a little bit of background information first will help with this post.

I had to prepay my OB Dr. a significant amount of money in the beginning of the pregnancy, which is normal and well, but the hospital submitted the claim first. All of my out of pocket responsibility went entirely to the hospital. Fortunately, we were prepared for it financially (thank you HSA), & received a significant discount by paying the balance in full within 3 days of the delivery. This meant that the OB now owed me a big fat check. Isabel was born on September 25, and we didn't get the refund check until December 9, and that was because I was badgering them about it! So frustrating!

With all that said, we ended up with some extra cash in December that was a nice surprise!

Marc has been trying to get me down to Salt Lake at Christmas time for years to see the lights at temple square. I know, we LIVED in Utah for several years and yet, I've NEVER seen them! My sister-in-law wanted to get away right before Christmas and we decided we'd all go down to Utah together. We made hotel reservations, had lots of fun things planned to do, people to see, and then a big ol' snow storm came through Idaho and according to the weather radars, we were going to follow the storm all the way to Utah. Ugh......Boise to Salt Lake is about a 5 hour drive. With snowy mountain passes, it could lead to a hairy, LONG drive. We made the decision to cancel the trip, and spend the money we would have spent on a hotel playing here in Boise.

Saturday, December 21st was the first day of our Staycation.
We went to our Ward Christmas Party in the morning, which was a breakfast. From there, we went to Scott & Codi's house and found a sledding hill to play on for awhile.

After sledding, we went back to Scott & Codi's to have lunch and warm up a little bit. We then took all the kids to go see "Frozen". The earlier time we were trying to get to was sold out, so we had to kill a little bitt of time. This is the brand new shopping center "The Village" in Meridian. It's a schnazzy little place. Heaters outside, fountains that "dance" to music (similar to the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas)

We loved the movie! The music was awesome, cute story line, and to our amazement, Isabel stayed awake and watched the entire show!

After the show, we stopped by Chick Fil'A for dinner.

Then went back to Scott & Codi's to play games. We had pretty much played from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. We were wiped out by the time we got home!
