"Music to your ears"

We received a hard phone call this afternoon, you know those calls when you can sense instantly from the tone of the person on the other end that something is wrong? Marc's grandfather passed away today. From what we can tell, he spent the morning doing the things he loves most, winning card games with the best hands of his life, and prayer with the rosary, before slipping peacefully away.

Some of our favorite memories of Grandpa include when the twins were born and Grandpa came to the hospital to meet them. He was as happy as he could be just holding those babies, but as nervous as a cat about it!

He was so happy watching the kids play and just tickled when they would let him hold them. There was a time where he was riding in the car with us while one or both of the kids were crying and he told us that a crying baby is just "music to your ears".

We were thrilled that he got to meet Lexi last August. The two hit it off as you can see:
Perhaps the most memorable thing about Grandpa was playing the card game "500" with him. I guess I considered myself a "Glutz" when I finally gave in to learning how to play. We could get so riled up, it's moments like that where your true colors come forth :)
This is our favorite picture of Grandpa. He just looks joyful, relaxed & content. It is the way we will always remember him.
We will miss Grandpa greatly. He was such a kind-hearted man, pleasant, funny, and caring. We are grateful for opportunity we have to fly back to Cincinnati to attend his funeral. May God be with you Grandpa, We Love You.
