Little Lou, (Lexi Lou that is) is a happy, inquisitive, little squirt! At 11 months old, she is now saying "mama"," da-da", "both-ew" (brother), "muh" (more) and yells and screams for everything else. She will eat most anything, the only thing she doesn't really care for is chicken fried steak or hot dogs. She especially loves bananas, peaches, bread, chicken, popcorn, sweet potato puffs, and will happily eat anything else that is in front of her. Mealtimes are difficult to prepare because she thinks she is absolutely starved and will not let me put her down for anything unless I try to distract her with some cheerios for a second. Even then, she's usually back at my legs screaming at me until I pick her up again.
Lexi can stand really well by herself. It's still shocking to watch her just pop up without holding onto anything. She will take 1-2 steps occasionally, but we're still waiting for her to realize she's quite capable of walking, she just needs to the confidence and the desire which is not really there yet. She can clap, wave on cue, throw up her arms when we say "touch down", and is starting to play peek-a-boo with blankets and other things by covering her face.
If she is well fed, Lexi will play delightfully on her own. Her favorite place to be is with her brothers in their room, but she roams the house independently making messes wherever she goes. She loves to play with bowls and cups. If she can sit and pull things out (like food out of the pantry, things out of a box, wipes out of the package, toys that are just put away, etc she is very happy. When I take things away, she screams quite obnoxiously to show me her disdain, but at least she's still easily distracted by other things.
Sleeping is FINALLY getting better. Last week she did awesome and was sleeping 10-12 hours at a time consistently (even though her brother wasn't). She's petite for her age. People will come up to me and say, "Oh, I bet she's about 6-7 months old!" No, she's 11 months. 6-9 month clothes fit her perfectly but are starting to get snug. She's still taller than average (in the 60%) but still under the average for weight, and especially head circumference. Her size doesn't hold her back in anything, we're still very impressed with her coordination, small motor skills, and comprehension.
Our favorite thing about Lexi is how she lights up whenever she sees us or the boys. Her smile makes you feel special and loved. We are so grateful she's part of our family!
