Memorial Day

On Memorial Day this year, we started out by going over to the church orchard to help thin peaches. I've never thinned peaches before. It almost makes you a little sick to your stomach removing so many peaches off the tree, but if they are going to have successful peach harvesting, it is a necessary step. Otherwise the peaches won't have room to grow and they'll be tiny and hard instead of large and juicy. While we were at the orchard, our neighbors down the street, the Hawkley family was there. They decided to join us on our adventure to "Jump Creek Falls" after our work at the orchard.

 

 

 The hike was fun and easy enough for the kids. They all wanted it to last a little bit longer. They enjoyed climbing rocks and playing in the water once we got to the waterfall.

 

 

 

 

 Even Baby Isabel got her feet wet.

 

 Not really sure what happened to this picture, but it's kind of cool how in its warped fashion.

 The bigger kids hiked up a steep rocky slope and had to come down on their butts.

We left when the baby was starting to melt down. She had been a trooper all morning. She missed her nap because she was too interested in what was going on at the orchard and during the hike. She fell asleep almost instantly when we put her in the car seat and started moving the car.
