Cub Scouts, Date Night, Doctor Appointment, and Cows

I was going to post these in date chronological order, but the computer reversed them. Oh well.

 

Friday, July 11th was cow appreciation day at Chick-Fil-A. We had been to Boise 2 times already that week with plans to go 1-2 times more before the weekend was over, so I wasn't sure if we were going to go or not. But on Friday morning as we woke up and looking for something to do, I knew the kids would love making cow costumes and getting all dressed up so we went for it.

 

We had two black cows with white spots: 

 

 One Pink Cow (Strawberry Milk anyone)

 Baby Cow, she wore a sign that said "Got Milk?"

 

And a white cow with black spots.

 Marc met up with us when we got to the restaurant. It was very crowded with all sorts of people dressed up in cow costumes, but they had it very organized. We walked in, grabbed 5 tokens for free meals and got to pick whatever we wanted from the menu! It was awesome! Isabel picked a deluxe chicken sandwhich to share with her Daddy. She got some of the tomatoes which are one of her favorite foods right now.

 

 

 
The cow came over to our table and I asked if I could get a picture. As Lexi was scampering out of her chair to get a picture she flipped my tray which had my lunch and Tyler's drink on it. It went everywhere. The cow just stood there blocking other people from finding seats so we hurried up and took the picture anyway, Lexi was upset about the mess and not sure she was going to get in trouble or not. Several employees were right there in seconds to help us clean up. I was mostly disappointed that I had lost half my lunch. Oh well.

 

 

 Someone came around and gave us these little "mini-moo's". Isabel wouldn't let go of hers the entire lunch.

 A balloon artist was going around table by table. We were fortunate enough to be in one of the right tables before we left. The boys both got a bow and arrow and Lexi chose a princess wand.

 

 We had so much fun! I was so glad that we went and made the effort to go. That night we had The John's (Ann Marie and Tim) over for games and treats. We played "Blokus", and "Ticket to Ride Europe).

Tuesday, July 8th, Tyler and Bryce got to go to their first Cub Scout Day Camp. They had a blast. Some of their favorite activities were shooting bow and arrows, Beebe guns, making their own periscopes, and an obstacle course.  
 

 
That same day, Lexi and I had a mother/daughter Relief Society activity. We painted nails, did makeup, I braided her hair all fancy and she learned a cat and mouse game. The boys were watching "Harry Potter 2" and weren't finished yet, so I took Lexi over to Sonic and we had milkshakes.

 

Tyler and Bryce had their 8 year old well check-up on Thursday the 10th. Tyler is 51" tall (54%), and weighs 60 lbs (59%). We've come a long ways from him being in the upper 90% for weight! I've really tried to work on portion sizes for Tyler and not letting him eat as much as he wants to eat. He gets one snack a day and we try to limit juice to one meal a day. We try to exercise regularly. He's not a heavy kid by any means, but I know if we let him eat however much he wanted when he wanted he's got a tendency to be able to put on a lot of pounds quickly. I refuse to let my kids have any part of childhood obesity. It's such a huge problem right now and it's my job as a parent to provide a healthy environment for my kids to grow up in. When I saw that we're back down to a moderate percentage for weight, I felt like cheering!  Bryce weighs 55 lbs (38%) and is 52 1/4" tall (74%). Little beanpole like his Daddy!  He loves that he is taller than Tyler. It gives him the biggest thrill.

That night, Marc had coordinated with one of the young women that she would baby sit for us and get paid in pao de quejo (Brazilian cheesey bread). Her brother found out that she was getting paid in cheesey bread and he offered to mow our lawn for the same deal! SWEET! Best trade ever! I was able to get Isabel to sleep before the babysitter came over and we zipped off to get to the temple. We were long overdue in getting there. It was nice to get back.
