We went up to the YMCA family camp again at Horsethief Reservoir. We picked up the boys from school on the Friday before Labor Day and fought traffic all the way up the mountain. My brother Jason and his family went up with us this time and we shared a cabin with them.
These two little girls had a blast together! We hung out the first morning together while the boys went fishing. They enjoyed bouldering, archery, and making some crafts.
We enjoyed playing games in the cabin, lots of Rook with the bigger kids.
Eating in the dining hall. The salad bar was especially yummy!
The water front was a lot colder in the beginning of September than in July! We didn't spend very much time swimming in the water, but enough to enjoy some of the "toys" at camp.
They wouldn't let all 5 of us go in the canoe at a time, so Marc took all 3 kids out by himself (brave guy!)
It is so pretty up there!
Smores night was a big hit. But a bit different than last year, we had our own private camp fire last year and had to share with several other families this year. We were completely exhausted and left pretty early.
Taking our turn at the archery station.
Tough kids, or at least they think so :)
We learned from last year and brought up the kids bikes so they didn't have to walk everywhere!
And the boys were distracted by Legos!
Here's our finished project:
Getting all ready to launch:
Each kid got to have a turn launching the rocket:
I got a little carried away with the chalk art:
Shooting BB guns:
The rock climbing was definitely the hit of the weekend! The boys couldn't get enough of it.
Even Lexi got in on the action! She was quite proud of herself. And we were quite amazed by her flexibility!
Our amazing climbers :)
What a great weekend! We had a blast just getting away and having one last hurrah before summer was gone for good. I love creating memories and experiences for my children to help them to grow, learn new things, and expand their talents :)
