August 11, Marc competed in the Emmett Spring Triathlon. This was a race I wanted to do, but physically couldn't compete in. So the kids and I cheered him on instead :)
This is him and our friend Gina before the race:
Marc had an awesome swim time. He swam a 500 in 10 minutes. We took off as soon as he got in the water so we could walk back to the car and get to the transition area before he did. We saw him zoom by on his bike right as we got to the car and he was looking great!
We got to the transition area about 60 seconds before he came flying in! He moved quickly out of transition and off to a short 3.2 mile run.
Waiting for their dad to come in:
Looking strong!
Marc came in 13th overall! He took 2 minutes off his time from last year and looked fantastic. He came in 4th in his age division, so just barely missed out on the medal and free socks.
These are Marc's friends that he trains with out in Caldwell. Left to Right: Patrick Waite, Gina Sorenson, Joe Daley, Marc, Greg Lasher & Chris Cowling
Bryan was nice enough to get our kids snow cones! They were eagerly devoured!
The celebrations were quietly dimmed by the news that a Neonatal Dr. at St. Al's died while he was competing. He had some type of heart failure while swimming. Although he was pulled from the water immediately, he couldn't be revived. So sad!
