First Day of School

Monday, August 29, Tyler & Bryce had their first day of Kindergarten. We were all excited, but nervous as it begins a whole new chapter in our lives. Marc gave both boys Father's Blessings the night before. Tyler went first, and afterwards he just started sobbing. The kind of cry that just rips your heart out because it's so sincere. We asked him why he was crying and he told us "because I'm going to miss you guys so much!" My tender-hearted little boy. Just pulled on my heartstrings and got me crying too. We double checked the school supply lists, loaded everything into the backpacks, laid out their clothes they had picked out and couldn't believe we'd be dropping them off in the morning.

6:30 comes early when you're not used to getting up with an alarm! Everybody was quick to get out of bed, we had oatmeal and toast and took a few pictures:
Marc had the day off, so he got to come help me take them in. We dropped off Tyler first. I was really nervous that he was going to be scared and start crying, but he found his name and sat down and couldn't hide his excitement. Bryce was "too cool" for us and Mr. Independent. I could tell he was nervous, but he didn't want to show it. They had a long day in store for them. School starts at 7:55 and ends at 2:30. They ate hot lunch at the school and their favorite part of the day was recess (no brainer there right?). We thought most (kindergarten) parents would pick up kids the first day of school, but the teachers just assume that everyone is riding the buses home unless they get a note from the office telling them otherwise. Marc went to pick up the kids and had to pull them off the bus since we hadn't notified the office (lesson learned). I guess that was traumatic, but overall they had a really great first day and couldn't wait to go back.

She thinks she's going to kindergarten too and is most disappointed when you tell her she's not old enough yet. Too soon and you will be little one!
