Finally Four

Lexi has waited such a long time to be 4, even though I feel like she went from toddler to big girl overnight. Since before Christmas, she could hardly wait for March 4th. That's all she would talk about in things that she was excited for. She is definitely one who will never be content with the age she is now. There's always something bigger and better about being older and she can't wait to be there!
We had a low key celebration on her actual birthday. She opened up a few presents. She got a Cinderella Doll, and Prince Charming:

 What do I say about this little spitfire of a girl? 

 She exceeds expectations. Man is she smart! She is such a fast learner, and she remembers things. She'll blow me away with things she can remember or recall or the things she knows. I definitely don't do enough to stimulate her learning. I love watching her mind process things. If the boys are practicing spelling words, she wants her own spelling words too. Her coloring has taken on a whole different level. It's no longer scribbles or just one color. She's precise and deliberate about what she's doing. I find that transition fascinating and its so fun when it "clicks".

Lexi was blessed with her father's coordination and athletic ability in about everything she does! She is a beautiful dancer! We love to turn Pandora on, and she will just dance and dance to all of the songs. Her toes are naturally pointed, legs and arms long and graceful and she will incorporate different dance moves she's learned in class so they just seem natural. She's a great little swimmer! She loves to dive for rings, jump off the diving board, and be one of the big kids at the pool. The life guards are always surprised when they see such a little girl earning her yellow ribbon in the lap lane. However, she's cautious like her mother and often her fear will hold her back from doing something that seems hard. That fear never seems to last long, and the motivation to be "big" like her brothers usually overcomes the anxiousness.

She has a tender heart, and often the pain of disappointing me or making a mistake is harder than the consequences. When she says that she's sorry, she means it. Her "I love you's" in her little high- pitched voice are enough to melt your heart. If her friend tells her "you're not my friend anymore" in a moment of anger or frustration, it's about the worst thing you could tell her. She cares about others and is getting better about sharing and giving her toys to others to make them happy rather than fighting over them. She calls her brothers "her boys" and loves them deeply. Lexi still loves to snuggle, sit in our laps, and be loved. She craves the physical affection from us and her little hugs just bring joy.

Her favorite toys right now are her baby dolls and miniature princesses. It's fun to watch her "mother" over her little baby Sofie. She's getting better and better at playing by herself. When its been quiet for an unusually long time, I'll peek her in room and find her lost in her own little world of play.

I feel so grateful that the Lord has blessed us with this little girl. She is a source of light and happiness to those around her. Her laughter has always been contagious, her smile radiates through her whole body and especially lights up her eyes, and she is so much fun! To our little Alexis, we love you! We are so proud of you, and we wish we could hold onto these moments forever. The thought of you growing up saddens me! But I am excited for your future and the expectations that you will continue to blow away!
