Jump Creek

On Memorial Day we took the kids on a little hiking trip. We'd heard about a little spot that was just a twenty minute car ride and an easy hike for the kids to go see a waterfall. The weather was perfect, the kids were ecstatic, and we were ready for an adventure.

 The hike was great. Easy, but challenging enough to push them a little and make it fun.Lexi was really anxious for most of it and wouldn't let go of our hands, but she eventually got a little braver.

 There was a few spots where we had to cross the creek by going over the rocks, amazingly enough, nobody went in:

 After avoiding lots of poison ivy along the way, we finally stumbled upon the waterfall:

 We decided to scale the side of the mountain. It was really slippery with a bunch of loose rocks and dirt. Lexi really wanted to go up it, but was terrified of slipping, so it was quite the process to get her up the trail. We stopped to let a bunch of traffic by:

 We slid on our butts all the way back down to the waterfall, went through this cool little cave and had the lake mostly to ourselves for a little bit. We brought out some snacks and the kids threw rocks in the water:

We had a great time! The kids keep asking when we can go again, so I think there's definitely more hiking in our summer planning!
