And now we wait!

We got to look at houses this week! We've had our eye on several and it was fun to actually see the rooms we've seen pictures of on-line and how they fit in the layout of the house. Man, there are some WEIRD houses out there! They look fabulous in the pictures and then you walk in the house and go, HUH? Are you serious?! What were you thinking?!?

Marc and I have had one house that has been on the list from the very beginning. We saw it first and felt pretty good about it. It was hard to get past the clutter/crap of the tenants---I'm a much bigger fan of looking at vacant houses. Anyway, we liked the layout of the house, loved the kitchen, liked the amount of space and the backyard. I loved that the laundry was upstairs....but it is going to take a lot of work to clean it up with new paint, flooring, garage door opener, fix the busted window, etc. The other houses that were on the top of the list were pending which we didn't realize.

So, we decided to go back out on Saturday and look at the first house again. The tenants were in the house this time, and it was even messier than before. After seeing some other houses, we decided that we weren't going to find a better deal right now in that neighborhood which was one of the better ones that we've looked at, so we've decided to MAKE AN OFFER! We're going in at the asking price however, we've asked for them to pay closing costs, and give us a flooring allowance so we can replace all the floors in the house. Only drawback, it's a short sale. So we have NO IDEA what the bank will do with it, or how long it will take if they even do accept it. We can withdraw our offer at any time, so if we find a house we like more we can always jump ship. I'm not letting myself get emotionally attached to the home. I seriously doubt the owner/and or bank will accept the offer, but who knows! We could get lucky!
