Horray!!

I think we're finally going to be able to stop looking for jobs for at least a year or so, lol. On Wednesday, Marc was offered a new position as the Membership Director of the Caldwell YMCA.

We've had a little bit of drama, stress, and uncertainty if this was the right position for him, because he was up for the same job at the West YMCA which is less than 5 minutes from our home (Caldwell is 25-30 minutes). The problem was that Caldwell was on a faster decision-making track than West, and Marc kind of wanted to work at the West Y a little more. We did not want to pass up on the opportunity at Caldwell, if the West was not going to give him the job....so Marc had to force some very frank and open discussions with several members of the hiring committee to find out where he stood in their minds and if staying in contention for West was worth it, and ultimately it was not. After much prayer, deliberation, and finally feeling like Caldwell was the best fit for him at THIS time we felt peace about our decision. On Thursday he was able to let Scott, his new boss know that he'd be coming to Caldwell. He's being introduced today, and will start working 1-2 days a week down at Caldwell, until he has all the loose ends tied up downtown.

It is rare that a person in a part-time lead staff position skips ranks to become a director, so this is a big honor for Marc. We are excited about the upcoming opportunities that await him because of this position. Caldwell has a large Latino population, so Marc will have to try and merge his Portugese with Spanish. And he is excited about building relationships within the schools again, as the Y out in Caldwell is trying to integrate some of its programs into the schools/community. And did I mention that the salary will be considerably higher? Happy Day! We're very excited. We're going to try the commute for a few months and see how he feels about it, if it becomes too much, than we may consider moving closer to Nampa when our lease here ends. Time will tell. That's not an option we're excited about, but one we're not entirely against. I'm so proud of Marc and how hard he has worked for this new position. It's not and end position where he wants to stay for a lot of years, but for now, it's an excellent place to stay for awhile.
