Day by Day

We're on day 11 without a job. Marc was able to spend 2 full days this week at a workshop with LDS Employment Services (there was an article in the Ensign a couple months back which spotlighted these workshops) It was highly valuable and such a tremendous service that the church offers to the public. We are learning so much about getting a job, techniques for cover letters, strategies for resumes, and the networking that must go along with the application process. After all it is all about WHO you know that gets you in the door.

Although we have several applications out there, one job is the most promising and the one we're the most excited about. After the workshops, Marc was able to make a call to the person who is ultimately responsible for hiring and talk with him for several minutes about the job. We've heard you have about 8 seconds that they review your information and make the decision to pass on you or not, so the minutes that he was able to spend on the phone talking to the decision maker were like gold. Marc told him he'd follow up next week after he had a chance to review his resume and everything and the guy was sure to get his name again. We've got a good friend who is doing everything he can to use all his connections to put in a good word for us. I get teary eyed when I think of everything people are doing to try and help us get the positions we're seeking after.

In the meantime, we're continuing to learn a great deal about frugality, resourcefulness and pinching every penny. Its been a blessing in disguise, a hard lesson to learn, but ultimately will make us stronger, more financially responsible, and wiser about how we spend every dollar.

Our faith is strong that our Heavenly Father has a plan for us. We're trying our best to be patient with that plan, but know that we will be taken care of. I'm trying really hard to have the attitude of "what can I learn from this?" For now, we continue to search for more jobs, wait as patiently as we can on the applications that are in right now, build up our networking, and just keep praying.
