Birthday Boys!

Thursday, May 8th, Tyler & Bryce celebrated their 8th birthday! They are getting entirely too grown up for me, I can't stand it!

To make this an extra special day for them, the school decided to plan the 2nd grade field trip on their birthday! Sweet! They got to spend the day going to the zoo and the MK Nature Center. Lucky Boys. While they were at school, their Cincinnati Grandparents were arriving in Boise and waiting for them at the bus stop for the minute they got off the bus.

We opened presents when they got home. Their presents were all the same thing this year. So I made them sit back to back and open them at the same time, so they wouldn't ruin the surprise for each other.

 Each boy received a scout shirt, scriptures with their name engraved on the front, and scripture carrying cases from Marc & I. Grandma Trudie got them new suits. Grandma & Grandpa Glutz got them new bikes. It was a big birthday!

I told the boys I would make a fancy cake for the baptismal party, so we had cupcakes for their actual birthday. We had savory and sweet crepes for dinner. Yum!

 Bryce is a kid with warm heart. He wears his emotions on his sleeve, though he doesn't want to and gets embarrassed about it. He is very much a people pleaser. To the point where he doesn't want people to look down on him if he makes a mistake. We are trying hard to help him be courageous and show integrity no matter what. It's a hard lesson. One most adults struggle with, and we're trying to get a young boy to rise above. He's a good kid. He loves to learn. Some of his favorite books right now are "The Box Car Children", "Flat Stanley", "Harry Potter", most anything non-fiction especially when it deals with weather, wildlife, and history. Bryce remembers things that he learns really well. He constantly tells us facts that he's learned by reading, Primary, or school. He has been determined to finish his goal for "Miles for Smiles" and runs at every opportunity he can get. He has held the "top runner for 2nd grade" since January and has a great pride in that. Legos are the only toy he really plays with. He loves to disappear and just build.

Tyler is a funny kid. He loves to be the center of attention, loves to make people laugh, and just finds joy in being goofy. He's a sweet kid. He's very affectionate. We've worked on what is an appropriate way to show affection, especially to those outside our family. Some of Tyler's favorite books right now are "Harry Potter", "Magic Tree House", and  "Who Would Win?" (if two creatures were put together in a battle, who would win?) Tyler is still obsessed with the game "Plants vs. Zombie's".  He loves to make believe, create his own games, and battle. He participates in "Miles for Smiles" but he is not as competitive in it as his brother is. He'd much rather be playing with friends.

I'm so proud of my boys! They are caring, respectful, and try hard to do their very best!
