Happy Birthday To the Boys!

Tuesday, May 8th, Tyler & Bryce turned 6 years old! They celebrated by going to school, Grandma Glutz, Lexi, and I helped in Tyler's class then took them home with us. They couldn't stop smiling and were just tickled about it being their special day.

I made a "Blue West" Airplane for Tyler. When he grows up, that's what he's going to name his airplane line that he flies for. It was baked in a mold, so it was a lot easier to decorate.

Bryce wanted me to make a cake of his school, so we gave him a school and school bus. I was running out of time and frosting so it didn't turn out as nice as I wanted, but close enough to bring a huge smile to his face.

 

 We kept things really simple this year party wise. Marc's parents were still here, and we invited my parents out for dinner and cake and ice cream. The boys requested hamburgers for their birthday dinner, so Marc grilled out, we had tater tots, baked beans, and my mom brought out a "cookie salad" and a sea food pasta salad.

After dinner, we opened a couple of presents. They got a couple of new lego sets and their birthday photo books. The biggest surprise for them was a trampoline! Each birthday boy was sung to, blew out their birthday candles, and enjoyed a large piece of their cakes. We enjoyed just hanging out as they put together their new legos.

This has been such a year of maturity for both Tyler & Bryce. Tyler's sense of imagination continues to blossom, as well as his ability to make believe with others. He can create this world of unlimited possibilities and is a riot to listen to. His teacher is always telling me what a happy kid he is and how much fun he is. He can make friends with anyone, and most people, especially adults, absolutely adore him. Tyler continues to love music and dancing. We recently attended a friend's wedding and he took over the dance floor and told me he could dance all night! I've been extremely proud of him as I've watched him learn how to count, recognize lower case letters, and start reading independently. He's a tender-hearted little boy who is eager to please, share his affection, and bring joy to the event.

 Bryce has always been a little over shadowed by his brother, so getting to be just "Bryce" and not "Tyler AND Bryce" in his kindergarten class has been a big deal to him. His teacher tells me how conscientious he is, and how he cracks her up every day with the things he says. He loves to be silly and funny, but his shyness keeps most people from experiencing it. Bryce has turned into a fantastic color-er, and creator. I've kept several of his drawings with the intent of scanning them into the computer someday. I'll have to have an on-line art show for him.Bryce loves to play with Legos and his Engino blocks. He likes to play quietly by himself sometimes and this has been a great outlet for him. He is genuine, struggles to show emotion sometimes, but it really upsets him when he knows he's done something to disappoint. He loves to play games, read books, and can't wait to go to school every day! He is the balance in our storm!
