Halloween Festivities

 The Wednesday before Halloween, Bryce & Tyler had a "Fall Frolic" celebration at their school. They could bring costumes, as long as they were dressing up like a character in a book. Bryce decided to dress up as the train conductor from the "Polar Express" and Tyler dressed up as "Dr. DeSoto" (a little mouse dentist that outsmarts a fox). I went out to the school to watch them in their parade and kind of hang out for the party a little bit. It was a little tricky going back and forth between the two classes. They did a little parade around to several of the classrooms in their wing, then came back to class and got all sugared up. They were combining birthdays and Halloween, so the amount of junk food was unreal.

Saturday morning, we went into Boise for a family Halloween party with the cousins. The kids did several crafts, made carmel apples, had a Halloween Scavenger Hunt and cake walk, and just enjoyed playing and being together.

Halloween was on a Monday this year. Bryce and Tyler had school, but since they already had their big party the Wednesday before, it seemed a little anti-climatic. We started trick-or-treating a little after 5:30. Against all my attempts to thwart being a princess, Lexi was thrilled to wear her pink princess dress. At least I was able to get her to wear a hat and gloves. Marc took the kids around while I stayed back and passed out candy.

The kids got home exhausted but excited to show me all their goodies. They can eat as much candy as they want when they get home, then we have them pick out what candy will fit in a ziploc snack bag, put their names on it and the rest is left for the Halloween Witch. While the kids are sleeping, the Halloween Witch comes and takes the candy and leaves a book for each of the children. Tyler was so cute this year, he hardly filled his bag, he kept asking me "do you think this will be enough candy for the witch?" It was almost like Christmas Morning when the boys came down the stairs and saw their new books. Lexi was the only one that was upset that her candy was gone, but we showed her the bag with her name on it and she softened up a bit.

I love Halloween. I love all the decorations, all the hype and anticipation, it's just a fun Holiday. But I also love when it's over!
