All 3 kids wanted to play soccer this year. Marc signed up to help as an assistant coach. Nobody else would take on the head coach position, so he ended up coaching Lexi's team. I think we were about 2 weeks into it, when he took the job at Independence. So, we were able to help find another parent to help me run practices during the week, and Marc would coach the games on Saturdays when he was in town.
The girls named their team "Ice Cream Unicorns". They had 3 girls who would play and get into it, and 3 who would be on the field and clueless the entire game. Towards the end of the season, Lexi really got into it. She got a lot more aggressive, scored lots of goals and loved playing soccer. She especially loved that her Daddy was her coach.
Tyler and Bryce definitely had a "learning" season. They had a bigger field, a goalie, and actual refs this year. Every now and then one of the refs would call "off-sides".
The entire team struggled with spacing on the field. Most of the time they all still flocked to the ball. Tyler was very aggressive on defense and was always fiercely going after the ball. Bryce was more timid. He played more on offense. They were some of the youngest and smallest on their team.
Soccer took up so much of our life during the Spring. In some ways I was grateful for it, because it kept us busy. But on the weekends when Marc was home and we spent half the day at the soccer fields I really resented it.
