Cascade

My sister-in-law Codi's family has a cabin in Cascade that they go up to every year on Christmas. This year, we were invited to go up there with them! We were pretty nervous about driving up the 2.5 hours of mountain/river winding roads in the snow, but were able to do just fine with Marc behind the wheel.

We loaded up the van and drove up Sunday morning. We arrived just in time to join the others (my brother Jason and his family were there for a few hours before they went home that evening) for lunch and then the kids could hardly stand it until we put on the snow clothes and tested out the new sleds.

This is the cabin we stayed at. It was perfect! Had a place to take off and hang up all the wet clothes just off the garage and then you went upstairs to a beautifully finished, "open" cabin.Bryce testing out his new sled, he's slightly nervous here, can you tell?
Me & Lexi giving it a whirl. This little girl was the little pampered princess on the sledding hills. She refused to be pulled up the hill in the sled, had to be carried in our arms, and as soon as we were done going down quickly wanted to do it again. I guess I can't blame her :)

I realized we didn't have as many pictures of Tyler sledding, because we were usually too concerned about him crashing into something and had to "catch" him. He definitely won the award for most crashes and tears!

What a perfect way to warm up after spending hours in the snow! Too bad we didn't bring any swimming suits up with us. Bryce went out in his underwear and had a blast. But Tyler absolutely would not go outside in just his underwear. It totally surprised us.
We ate, and ate, and ate, it was glorious! The adults enjoyed staying up late playing games and talking, something we rarely get to do anymore.

The only bad thing about the trip, we left Lexi's pacifier at home and suffered the price for it ALL night long. It was grueling. But gave us the motivation and first step to get her off the binky. We're on night 3 tonight of no binky. It's still not getting any easier....Trying to resist the urge to grab them from them hiding spot and just plug her up, but I know its never going to get any easier. Cold turkey wasn't really my plan, but then again, I had no plan anyway, so just trying to move forward with it. Will someone please tell me its all going to be alright, and she'll learn to sleep without it??!!
