Mother's Day, Boy's Birthday Mashup

Saturday, May 7, we took Tyler and Bryce out to eat for their birthday (and Isabel, because she's a tag-along). They decided on the Texas Roadhouse and got to order whatever they wanted, both chose ribs. 

 We told the waitress it was their birthday and really wanted to embarrass them. Several of the servers came and sang to the boys, Tyler wouldn't get up, (or claimed later that he couldn't) so Bryce was the only one to get sung to in person, but they brought the boys huge bowls of ice cream. Even between the 5 of us, we couldn't finish them, we were too stuffed!

Sunday, May 8th we started off the celebrations with Mother's Day. The kids gave me some cards, and a few little presents they had gotten at school. They let me sleep in and made me breakfast, it was sweet. 

 We had a flukey thing happen with our church building, the pipes with the fire suppressant water burst and flooded the building. It had 6" of standing water everywhere, in fact, the neighbors were the ones to call when they saw water gushing out the doors. So, we combined with another ward at the stake center, and essentially hijacked their meeting because we got a new bishopric that day. The primary kids from each ward sang and we figured that's just how church should be every week ;)

Here's me and the boys who first made me a mother. It won't be too much longer until they're as tall as me! After church, we switched gears and it was birthday time!

Presents are always a good way to start off the celebrations.

They were both pretty pleased with their gifts! 

 The boys decided they wanted a fancy cheesecake instead of a cake, so they agreed on White Chocolate Raspberry. It was pretty tasty!

 Each boy was sung to individually.

 10 years old!

10 years! How can it really be 10 years since I got to meet these two little boys for the first time. 9 year old boys are just obnoxious, so really hoping 10 year olds get a little better!! lol. Although, we have our frustrations as we all figure this parenting thing out, we really couldn't have better boys. They are good kids who really have an innate desire to do well, be good, and make good choices. They have met some good friends up here in Suncrest and love going out to find people to play with. They're both doing excellent in soccer and we're really proud of the growth they are making. Tyler is really assertive and aggressive on the field (almost to the point of too aggressive, the kid just doesn't realize how strong he really is!) He loves playing defense and is starting to get a good sense of the game. Bryce is getting better at being more assertive. He prefers to play on offense and is getting better at being faster and figuring out where to be on the field.
