Galloway Reunion

My brother Joel, and his family came to Idaho over the 4th of July. My Mom rented a cabin in Donnelly, Idaho that was "Lakeside" for all of us to stay up there for a few days and just enjoy being together. Being so new in his job, Marc had to stay and work on July 3rd, so the kids and I traveled up to Boise and he would meet us up there later.

Let's say, the trip had a bit of drama. Even just getting out the door was quite difficult. We finally got on the road Thursday afternoon, hours later than expected, Joel was driving Jason's work truck and pulling the boat. We were in a caravan and he wasn't able to keep up with us, and then all of the sudden, he was pulled off to the side of the road. He had filled up the diesel truck with unleaded gas.
This is a picture of Jason's truck being towed away with the boat on the trailer on the side of the road.

We had to unload everything out of the truck, reload it into my Dad's Tahoe and try again.  It was a slow trip up to Donnelly. We finally got in real late at night and then we couldn't get the lock off the chain that went across the driveway. I'm not sure how long it took to figure out how to get in, but we finally got in and got dinner ready at about 10:00 at night.

Friday, July 3rd the kids slept in a little bit which was greatly appreciated. Codi and Scott came up with Doughnuts for everyone for breakfast. The kids were eager to get down to the lake, so we tried to find a good spot to hang out on the beach. We were kicked out of the one spot we found, so we hiked through the tall grasses/weeds until we could find a private area to set out all our stuff. The kids were so excited! They played so well in the sand, in the water, and just enjoying being together.

Ellie, Natalie, and Nicole were real sweet with Isabel. They pushed her around on this alligator over and over and over again. She was their little shadow.

Jason brought the boat out. Lexi, Isabel and I went along to ride in the boat while the bigger girls were tubing. Unfortunately, the ski rope got tangled up under the boat. Jason struggled for awhile to dive under and try to untangle it under the water, but it was impossible.

He paddled us back to shore. Once we got to shore, the teenagers helped him get it over to the side and up on the trailer.

The rope had gotten sucked up under the boat into the engine and was wound tightly. Someone let the boys use their tools to try and get it unwound. They spent hours under the boat in the heat working on it but couldn't get it fixed.

The rest of us walked home through the weeds/grass (I was so scared of snakes in there I could hardly stand walking through it!)

Back at the cabin, Grandma got out the nail polish and clear stones to do art/jewelry with. Jason called a boat company and was able to find someone who was open that could help with the boat (which was a rental by the way)

We laid low. Had a nice dinner, and started a big old poker game. The poker game was paused when we saw the huge party/firework show going on across the lake. Every time we thought "this must be the finale!" it kept going and going and going! It was amazing.

Once the show was over, we resumed our poker game. I was pretty excited and pleased with myself to be the chip winner of the night :)

In the meantime, Marc was boarding a greyhound bus for the midnight "express" from Salt Lake City to McCall, Idaho. It was an hour delayed and then every stop they made took about 30-45 min to get going again. When they were around Mountain Home, Marc knew they weren't going to be in on time to make his connecting bus. He asked the bus driver to phone ahead and have them hold the bus, the bus driver lied to him. They pulled into Boise and Marc watched his connecting bus up to Donnelly pulling away and he had no way of contacting them to wait. After some frantic phone calls, he walked over to Jason's company. Jason was able to help give him the security code and tell him where the keys were to one of their cars was and Marc was able to drive himself up.

We spent most of the 4th on the beach/lake. Here's Yazmin, Codi and I on the beach.

They spent lots of time digging in the sand.
Marc buried lots of kids in the sand. This is Nathan.

 This is Lexi

I think this is Bryce, but I'm not sure.

 Mermaid Lexi.
Isabel wanted to be buried to, but kept kicking off the sand.
 Getting some air time.
The boat was fixed and the kids spent lots of time water skiing, tubing, and wake boarding.

This little one thought it was hilarious to put sand in her shorts and then stand up and watch it all fall out. She'd just laugh and laugh and thought she was so silly.

Back at the cabin getting festive.

 Playing cards
 Chilling with Grandma
The boys were taught how to play chess by their cousins

 All the Galloway cousins.

We had a family home evening and "talent show" which was mostly of the kids being wild, crazy, and hyper.

We packed up Sunday morning, went to Sacrament Meeting at my parents' ward. Took a family picture with everyone,

then we all drove home to Utah. Isabel slept the first half of the trip and was being so cute and happy after she woke up.
