Closing

We've been really busy around here! On Thursday, Marc's parents came into town and about an hour and a half later, Marc & I left to go sign all the paperwork for the closing of our house! We our officially homeowners!! I was a little nervous for closing, because, I've never been to one and didn't know what to expect. Essentially, we sat and signed paperwork for an hour while the Title Agent explained everything to us. Most of it we'd already seen before because our loan agent has already prepared all of the loan information for us and kept us in the loop the entire time.

The only bad news.....we have no keys. Fannie Mae is located out of Dallas, and as most of you know, Dallas was slammed with snow and ice storms this week and because of that, the agent who was handling our deed to the house has not been in the office since Wednesday. Because she hasn't been in the office, she has not been able to get the Deed sent out to the Title company and Fannie Mae won't get "funded" until the Title Company receives it. We cannot occupy the house or legally receive keys to the house until Fannie Mae has been funded and they have now told us that it won't happen until Tuesday. Lame. In the meantime, Marc's parents have been helping us box up the house and get everything ready so on Tuesday we can quickly load the truck in the morning. We don't expect to get clearance to move until 5:00 at night, so then we can go unload it out in Caldwell. That is the plan as of now. It has changed several times in the last 48 hours, but hopefully this one will work!
